Comedy talent show could be an entertaining first date

If looking for a follow up to that brief speed dating meeting or for somewhere to take someone met while online dating, the Best New Act of the Year comedy competition may be an attractive option.

The show, held at the Hackney Empire on July 12th, will showcase some of the cream of the UK's new comic talent.

A comedy show may be a good choice for a first date as it is unlikely that there will be a shortage of conversation afterwards.

Previous years have seen contestants such as Russell Brand, Matt Lucas and David Baddiel taking part in the event, so it may be an opportunity to see the next big thing on the comedy circuit.

While perhaps not the most obvious first date, comedy clubs may be a great choice, particularly in light of a BBC poll which found that 50 per cent of women said a sense of humour was the most important thing they looked for in a man on a first date.
