You find someone you like through online dating and send a few messages back and forth. \u00a0 You’re both getting on well so you suggest that you speak on the phone or meet up. \u00a0However, rather than agree you get this reply:<\/p>\n

“Thanks, but I like to take my time to get to know someone. \u00a0 Let’s just speak on here for now”<\/p>\n

This is something that I notice quite a lot and it can be incredibly annoying as well as confusing. Everyone will of course want to take things at their own pace, but you do have to be realistic. \u00a0You are on a dating site so it’s only fair to expect people to go out on actual dates!<\/p>\n

If you are one of these people who is just a little nervous about dating then that’s absolutely fine. \u00a0You just need to take a little risk and get yourself out there. \u00a0You won’t meet anyone hiding behind a computer and you won’t really know if you are a good match until you meet them.<\/p>\n

There’s little point writing endless messages back and forth as the other person will soon lose interest. \u00a0 Why would they spend all that time and effort on you if you aren’t ready to give anything back? \u00a0They’ll just move on to someone else who is happy to see them.<\/p>\n

You don’t need to go out on a full blown date as a quick coffee is a great introduction. \u00a0Tell them you are busy but have time to see them for an hour after work.<\/p>\n

At the very least don’t be afraid to have a quick chat on the phone. \u00a0You can ask them for their number and call them if you want to be careful. \u00a0This shows them that you are willing and it’s a much better way to get to know them than typing away on a keyboard.<\/p>\n
