Making a Long Distance relationship work<\/p>\n

The upcoming “Drew Barrymore” film is all about long distance relationships so I wanted to write something about it for you.<\/p>\n

Sometimes we end up dating people who don’t live near us. It’s so easy to meet people from all over the world using the internet that that this can be 8 miles or 800 miles.\u00a0 These relationships can be hard to keep going but they can work.<\/p>\n

Here are my dating tips so you can keep the spark going!<\/p>\n

1) Communicate often.\u00a0 Make sure you talk as often as you can and send regular emails and texts. Talking on the phone is vital as you need to be able to hear their voice. Without hearing them speak it’s very hard to work on any form of romantic connection.<\/p>\n

2) Try and see each other as often as you can, even if it means sacrificing things. The times you do spend together will be all the more powerful.<\/p>\n

3) A long distance relationship is built on thing – Trust.\u00a0\u00a0 You don’t want to have to be worrying about what the other person might be getting up to.<\/p>\n

4) The same rules for dating apply, even if you aren’t seeing each other as much.\u00a0 You are still together so don’t be needy, demanding or controlling or they will quickly destroy everything.<\/p>\n

5) What’s the long term plan?\u00a0 Will one of you eventually move near the other?\u00a0\u00a0 If neither of you has any intention of relocating then the relationship then be clear from the start and set a time limit.<\/p>\n

6) Do something at the same time, like watching a film or reading the same book.<\/p>\n

7) Use Skype – the most loved tool for long distance lovers. Free calls over the internet and you’ll be able to see each other on webcam too.<\/p>\n

8 ) Give them a personal object of yours so in a time of need, when they miss you, they are able to hold on to something that once belonged to you.<\/p>\n
