Those looking to find love online can drastically increase their chances of success if they follow a few basic rules, according to dating expert and author David DeAngelo.

In a question and answer session on Askmen.com, he points out that as dating online is a massive enterprise with many millions participating to find their match, the odds are that there is someone out there.

DeAngelo advises that when using an online dating service, people should try to update their profile every day as it puts them to the top of the pile when potential partners are searching.

He also advises that users should put as much personality into their profiles and their responses to make them seem as personable and individual as possible.

Online Dating Magazine estimated that more than 20 million people visit an online dating site each month and that over 120,000 marriages happen each year as a result of an online dating service.
