Thanks for looking at my profile, I hope what follows is something you'll appreciate.
Being born and raised in the South West has meant having really no Asian friends. However I have, and do, visit India quite often. In this situation I think you're forced to ask and question the wisdom inherited from your parents, a lot of which as time has elapsed I've found flawed. The one thing assumed by them, which I have concluded to be true, is that to born into a Sikh household is a privilege and this is the one thing I would insist on keeping, hence my joining this website in the hope that you would have asked the same questions and hopefully concluded the same.
A bit about me, I like to travel and have been to quite a few places , including the Middle East and Africa. I've booked 6 weeks off work over June and July and hope to cover some more of the globe. I what I do I have the option of 5 year career break, so I'd like to consider doing something to do for 18 months next year. The only trouble is I don't know what, I've thought about helping a charity in the Philippines or Syria, or trying something commercial in India, not entirely sure right now, please do suggest any ideas you might think could be fulfilling?

My perspective on all relationships is we're never certain about what we DO want, as this is open to change and can be challenged over a short period of time. What doesn't change so readily is what we know we DON'T want, which is where I think a person should start, it's certainly my take. So while I can't pretend be anyone's 'Knight in Shining Armour', what I do promise is good, honest advice, which I hope would lead to good, honest company. If that company makes me feel as though I'm with my 'Maid Marion' I hope I can be that 'Knight', not having to pretend. I know within myself I can be difficult to get on with, in part because I challenge things I don't agree with and have a habit of being contrary for the sake of it against certain personality types . However those I'm loyal to, and whose thought and actions are genuine in their goodwill towards me, I know I can be complete in my dedications towards, it's the later scenario I need to make me the person I'd like to be.
If what you've read so far intrigues you I'll leave you with a few words that interest on mean something to me. It'd be interesting to see how many of them you recognize and have a context for, a crude 'mental compatibility' game I guess. Remember it's not about knowing them necessarily, it's about being open and interested in finding out about them;
Ozwald Boateng, Franck Muller , Todds Shoes, Sant Bhinderanwale , Ludhiana, Sukha &Jinda, Ducati, IPL, Dunedin, Jimmy Choo, Lebanon, Emily Pankhurst.
If after all this you've any major doubts or conversely any solid conclusions, I've failed, and wish you the best of luck in your continued search for 'Mr Right'. On the other hand if you're left with a sense of intrigue and an open sense of wanting to expand on what I've said I hope to make your acquaintance.
